Любой, кто делал сам карты для Garmin, знает, что стандартный набор типов Garmin – довольно скудный и не достаточный для отображения всего многообразия топографической информации. Поэтому было решено создать универсальный typ-файл, с помощью которого, расширить стандартный набор, и доопределить недостающие типы, в соответствии с условными обозначениями, принятыми в Российских картах, и с учетом специфики векторных карт.Кроме того, в данной статье я попробую систематизировать классификатор стандартных типов Garmin. В работе использовались результаты собственных экспериментов и исследований, а также результаты исследований коллеги cnfhbr.
Разрабатываемый typ-файл должен удовлетворять следующим условиям:

При создании тип-файла
нужно учитывать ряд нюансов:

Сухопутные
типы перечислены в таблицах 2 – 5. GRMN_TYPE – это строковый
идентификатор типа используемый в MPC. Некоторые типы имеют
несколько вариантов – синонимов GRMN_TYPE. Например «LAKE» и «LAKE_5MI» - это
всего лишь два варианта строкового идентификатора GRMN_TYPE, для одного и того же типа
– 0x3f, для идентификации этого типа в MPC
может быть использован любой из них.

2.3 СТАНДАРТНЫЕ ТИПЫ ТОЧЕК.
В таблице 4 приведены типы, поддерживаемые в MPC (Mapsource Product Creator), в таблице 5 приведены типы, которые не поддерживаются MPC, но поддерживаются cGPSMapper-ом, кроме того, эти типы корректно отображаются и функционируют в навигаторах и в программах BaseCamp и MapSource. Поскольку данные типы не поддерживаются в MPC, NT-идентификаторы для них не известны.

2.4 НОВЫЕ СТАНДАРТНЫЕ ТИПЫ ТОЧЕК MPC 8.XX
Данные
типы точек (см. таблицу 6) появились в MPC начиная с версии 8.00. Все
эти типы точек ведут себя совершенно по-разному в разных программах и моделях
навигаторов. Но везде есть те или иные проблемы с отображением и интерпретацией
некоторых из этих точек, причем в разных программах (MapSource, BaseCamp, Garmin Mobile XT) и разных
моделях навигаторов (в том числе в самых новых моделях), наблюдаются разные
проблемы и с разными типами. Какая-либо система в этом пока не выявлена, но
пока однозначно стоит воздержаться от использования этих типов.
